A celebration of the amazing ‘first’ generation of great film composers with scoring by Ernest Korngold, Max Steiner, Franz Waxman, Alfred Newman, Miklos Rosza and others, with music from such films as King Kong, Gone With The Wind, Robin Hood, Casablanca, Sunset Boulevard, Cleopatra, Citizen Kane, Ben Hur, El Cid and The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex.
The Seventies
A look at the iconic films of the 70s and the people who composed for them; featuring the work of Jerry Goldsmith, Michel Legrand, Marvin Hamlisch, Richard Rodney Bennett, Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, Nina Rota, John Williams and others, in such films as Jaws, The Godfather, The Sting, Taxi Driver, Chinatown and Murder On The Orient Express.
The Western
An examination of the creation of the 'western' sound over time by such composers as Max Steiner, Dimitri Tiomkin, Ennio Morricone and Elmer Bernstein in films including The Searchers, Red River, High Noon, Rio Bravo, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Shane, The Magnificent Seven and Wild Wild West.
Hitchcock
A celebration of composers Bernard Herrmann, Franz Waxman and Dimitri Tiomkin and such films as Psycho, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Rebecca, Vertigo, North By Northwest and Dial M for Murder.
The Italians
A concert featuring scores by Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone and Carmine Coppola from such films as The Godfather, The Mission, A Fistful of Dollars, Once Upon a Time in America, Cinema Paradiso and La Dolce Vita.
The Brits
Music by distinguished British film composers: John Barry, Richard Rodney Bennett, George Fenton, David Arnold, Rachel Portman, Joby Talbot and others, from such films as Casino Royale, Nicholas and Alexandra, Out of Africa, Cider House Rules, Wonka and others with possible special guests Rachel Portman and George Fenton.
The Jazzers
A concert celebrating the great influence of jazz and jazz musicians on film from composers such as Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Dave Grusin, Henry Mancini, Andre Previn, Alex North, Franz Waxman and others. Featuring music from films such as Anatomy of a Murder, Rear Window, Round Midnight, The Man with the Golden Arm, In the Heat of the Night, The Firm and others.
Rejected Scores
A fascinating concert of music by some of Hollywood’s most esteemed composers whose scores were rejected for the film’s release. Films include Henry Mancini’s score for Hitchcock’s Frenzy, Alex North’s score for Kubrik’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and Richard Rodney Bennett’s score for Sidney Lumet’s Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.
Pixar
A celebration of Pixar's greatest films and their composers, with special guests such as Randy Newman, Michael Giacchino and Thomas Newman with music from such films as Up, Toy Story, Ratatouille, Coco, The Incredibles and Elemental.
The Pioneers
A concert featuring the groundbreaking work of women and transgender individuals in film; Angela Morley, Rachel Portman, Jocelyn Pook, Wendy Carlos, Elisabeth Luytens, Anne Dudley and Hildur Gudnadóttir in such films as The Shining, Joker, Eyes Wide Shut, Emma, A Clockwork Orange, Watership Down, Chocolat and others.
